How do I prepare for an In Home Family Photoshoot?
Embrace the joy that lies in the imperfect and be prepared to just be. Our sessions are relaxed and documentary, led by the little ones and their energy, so just be prepared to simply love on them and be wholly present. In this day and age, it's often hard to carve out that dedicated family time but instead of waiting for the perfect moment. Know that all you need to do is show up, and I will take care of the rest.

What time are These Outdoor Photography Sessions Held?
The first hour after sunrise and the last hour before the sun sets will forever be my favourite time to photograph sessions outdoors. The light is gentle and flattering with a soft, warm glow and golden hues that you just don’t get at other times of the day. The timing of this window changes with the seasons (i.e. the sun sets earlier in winter and later in summer).
How do I Choose My Favourite Sydney Location?
This often starts with a simple conversation. I love to get to know your family and understand what location would suit you best. If this is outside the family home, or a favourite neighbourhood spot you visit often, I'm happy to share my favourite beaches and nature reserves with you, being mindful of travel distance, the ages of your kids and the kind of adventure you're up for! I often frequent Sydney's northern beaches, have a few favourite beaches and parklands on the eastern suburbs, as well as some incredible scenic options for those who love our Sydney harbour skyline.
Which Season is Best For an Outdoor Family Session in Sydney?
Spring in Sydney is always popular for its warmth and sunshine, while Summer is lovely for beach sessions and longer evenings - bearing in mind that shared spaces tend to be busier. Although cooler, Autumn and Winter are particularly beautiful for outdoor family photoshoots, with soft, flattering light available across more of the day. Ultimately, there’s something beautiful about every season, and I'll help guide you through the best location, timing and clothing combinations that work for your family needs.

How do I book a family photoshoot in Sydney and what are the next steps?
Your session is booked in with me once your $300 creative session fee has been paid (collections are purchased separately and include both digital and print options - request full price guide here). I will then send through my Client Prep Guide and a Family Questionnaire which helps me get to know your family and understand what is important to you. We will then confirm specific timing and location details, and I offer guidance for clothing and styling if you require this in the lead up. The session itself will be relaxed and fun, and your images will be available to view within a fortnight.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you shoot analogue film for our family session?
Yes, and I would LOVE to. There is a film fee of $300 to cover film and processing costs.
What should I wear for my family session?
I want you to feel comfortable in your own skin. Textures, layers, and neutrals are timeless and often work well - but above all, I want you to feel like you, and the kids to feel like themselves. I send through a client prep pack before your session, which has some guidance on dressing for the day.
Do you photograph extended family sessions in Sydney?
Yes! However, given my style is documentary and natural, I suggest organising these sessions around an activity such as a picnic, beach adventure or an indoor at-home session doing things you love to do together as a family. I can take all the group photos that the parents or grandparents request, but also all the quiet magic and subtle gestures that make your family who they are! Please note additional fees may apply.
Do you offer a framing and album service for our photographs?
As a professional photographer, I believe this is one of the most valuable services I offer and perhaps the most often overlooked. Your time and money invested deserve to be celebrated rather than remain in hiding on a drive or cloud somewhere.
Once your session is complete, your images are hosted in a private gallery linked to my favourite lab with an abundance of beautiful products that can be ordered and shipped safely to your door. I can help design keepsake albums for you to hold in your hands and heart. I’m also available to provide advice on creating gallery walls, print and frame sizing.
What's your policy on rescheduling family sessions?
Re-scheduling is permitted in the event of family sickness. In the event of inclement weather for a scheduled outdoor session, I will be in touch with you in the 24h leadup to discuss the options, and will make the call on the day itself depending on the severity of the forecast.
What makes a documentary approach to family photography different?
My sessions are relaxed and child-led, grounded in play with no pressure to pose or perform. I pay attention to small details, fleeting glances, and moments of connection that knit your family together, often without you realising these are being taken. Together with my experience and eye for light and composition, my hope is that you will look back on these images through my lens and witness the beauty of your own life and find a deep sense of gratitude here.
As a mum who spends her days documenting moments in time, there’s one thing I’ve learned. Life never slows down on its own.
